MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) -A Minneapolis murder investigator stated police officer Derek Chauvin used “completely pointless” lethal power when kneeling on George Floyd’s neck throughout an arrest final Might in testimony at Chauvin’s homicide trial on Friday.
Chauvin, who’s white, was fired by town’s police division the day after he was captured on video on prime of a dying Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man in handcuffs, in a scene that sparked protests towards police brutality all over the world.
“Completely pointless,” Lieutenant Richard Zimmerman instructed the jury when prosecutors requested him what he considered Chauvin urgent his knee on Floyd’s neck for about 9 minutes. “In case your knee is on an individual’s neck, that may kill them.”
