(Reuters) – A protester in Myanmar who says he was detained by troops for 3 hours as a part of the crackdown towards opponents of final month’s army coup has described being crushed with belts, chains, bamboo sticks and batons.
In a uncommon first-hand account of the remedy of detained activists, the person informed Reuters he was one in all about 60 individuals picked up on Tuesday by police in Myeik, a southern coastal city, as they hid in a home after a protest was damaged up by them.
A army spokesman didn’t reply calls in search of touch upon the person’s allegations. Myeik police station didn’t reply its telephone. The military has beforehand mentioned it’s coping with protests lawfully.
